3 day/ 2 nights
Today you will be picked up from your hotel in Lima and will drive to Pisco or Paracas three to three and a half hours away. If you have arrived late we can do an early afternoon transfer so that you can rest and see a bit of Lima or if you have already spent some time here we will leave early so that you can enjoy Paracas. Upon arrival you are free to stroll around the beach or just relax at your hotel. Being a fishing village there is delicious fresh fish and seafood and we highly recommend that you try some.
You will be picked up from your hotel by our local guide and then transferred to the harbour of Paracas to take a speedboat* for our tour to the Ballestas Islands located some 30 km away at the sea. During our tour to the Islands you will see many attractions, among them, a huge design etched into the slope of a hill, known by the local people as The Candelabra. This is an enormous figure that can be seen clearly from the sea.
Afterwards, we will continue our excursion around the Ballestas Islands, where you will see hundreds of birds flying (Peruvian Boobies, Inca terns, Pelicans, Cormorants and others) above the Islands, as well as dozens of sea lions on the shore of the beaches. If you are lucky you may be able to see the famous Humboldt Penguins and dolphins swimming nearby. It is not permitted to land on the Islands, which means you will spend the whole tour seated on the boat.
After this tour, we will visit the Paracas Peninsula, driving along its beaches and stopping for photos. We will take you to the little village of Lagunillas for lunch. Here there are various restaurants overlooking the ocean that serve mainly fresh fish and seafood on their menus. After finishing this tour you will continue on to Nazca for the night.
*Please note that this is a shared boat tour as the best time to visit the Ballestas Islands is early morning as the water is calmer and tour operators reserve these times for their shared service. It is possible to do a private tour but it will be later in the morning and the water is usually choppier.
This morning you will be picked up by our local guide in Nazca and then will be transferred to the Nazca aerodrome for your flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines. We will fly over this expansive area, where centuries ago ancient Peruvians etched huge designs that can be seen only from the air. There is an incredible web of criss-crossing lines kilometres long as well as the well-known figure such as the humming bird, the monkey and the condor. The Nazca Lines flight lasts 35 minutes. Afterwards you will be transferred back to the hotel to collect your things before returning to Lima.
