3 days / 2 nights
Start your culinary experience with a visit to a chic Lima restaurant to meet the chef and learn a little bit about the history of Peruvian cuisine. Choose from Ceviche, Amazonian or Peruvian-Japanese fusion cuisine depending on your preference and be ready for you to tantalize your taste buds with the food that you get to sample.* The afternoon is then free to enjoy. Wander through the area near your hotel, go into the historic centre for a visit or sit overlooking the Pacific Ocean and just relax.
In the evening we will bring you to a traditional Peruvian Criollo or Creole restaurant to be able to sample the roots of Peru’s cuisine.
*Note that this is not a full meal
Today we will travel south along the coast to the Department of Ica, passing through the lush valleys that have sustained almost 4000 years of life in the area. Our first stop will be at a local seafood restaurant in the town of Paracas. Once home to only 1 hotel, Paracas is the new “It” spot along the southern coast filled with glamourous resorts however, it is still a fishing village at heart and the seafood could not be fresher. We will enjoy lunch here before continuing on to Ica.
Ica is the heart of Peru’s viticulture region and our activities are based around a stay at the Viñas Quierolo Hotel in the midst of their winery, one of Peru’s oldest. Here you will visit the vineyards as well as the distillery as you learn about the production of Pisco, Peru’s national drink as well as their wine production. This is why we call this a Pisco tour!
Dinner will be relaxed as you look out over the vineyards and enjoy the tranquillity before turning in for the night. And yes, you might enjoy a Pisco or two!
After checking out of the hotel we will travel to the desert oasis of Huacachina a small lagoon surrounded by some of the tallest sand dunes in the world. You will be able to enjoy the scenery, purchase “Tejas” a sweet typical to the area and for the brave at heart, try sand-boarding. Once you have had your fill we will return to Lima on time for a late lunch.
** Please note that if you are interested in the luxury option you will return to Paracas after the winery tour for the night of Day 2 and will not be able to visit Huacachina in the morning.
